LMU x SOPHIA

During the course students had several opportunities to engage and interact with students attending Universities in Japan. Meeting with Students and Professors from Doshisha, Aoyama Gakuin, and Sophia University offered a wonderful Insight into Japanese and American Culture while affording all the chance to learn through open communication and shared experiences.

As Loyola Marymount's sister school, Students spent the most time at Sophia University where they met with upper and lower division classes to engage in round table discussions and present their research projects. On the final day of the trip students also presented their Photo essays to a group of Sophia Students, Faculty, and Administrators.

Below you will find video introductions that were shared prior to meeting students at Sophia University for LMU students. Additionally a video produced by Sophia Students is linked that thanked us for our time spent with them.

LMU Tomodachi Inouye Scholarship Program 2014

In 2014, LMU sent their first group of scholars to Japan as part of their Tomodachi Inouye Scholars Program. This program aims to strengthen the relationship between the United States and Japan by providing opportunities for young American leaders to study and experience Japanese culture firsthand. During the trip, the students had the chance to visit various cities, learn about Japanese history and traditions, and engage with local communities. It was a unique and enriching experience that broadened their horizons and deep their understanding of the world.
